Sheriffs for medical marijuana?

I know what you’re thinking.

“Huh? Did the same sheriff who debated John Morgan in October really just come out for medical marijuana?”

Yep. That happened.

It’s because of you. And 3.3 million Floridians like you, who voted for medical marijuana last fall. We may not have gotten to 60% as we hoped, but we changed the game in a major way during the election – and now we can say with confidence: medical marijuana is coming to Florida and soon.

My hope, which I believe you share, is that sick and suffering Floridians see relief as quickly as possible. But I also share with you a commitment to not just passing a law, but passing a law that works for the patients of Florida.

SB 528 is a solid beginning. Public support from Sheriffs around Florida is a big deal for getting something passed. But a lot can happen between now and the end of the legislative session. A lot of compromises can be made. Heck, it is entirely possible that a bill never even gets voted on!

That is why we continue to work as hard on collecting signatures for a new amendment as we do pushing for legislation in Tallahassee.

Bottom line, there is an enormous amount of work to be done. And we are not going to be naïve going into this process. We are going to fight like hell to pass not just a medical marijuana bill, but the right medical marijuana bill. A medical marijuana bill that works for sick and suffering Floridians.

This has always been about the patients and will always be about the patients. And nothing is going to happen with you. Your support, your time, your donations, your votes – we cannot do this without you.

We are going to do this.

As our Chairman, John Morgan would say: BELIEVE!!!!!
